About Kat Fuqua

As a FEI U25 Grand Prix Dressage Competitor, FEI Grand Prix Jumper, recipient of 9 USEF Horse of the Year awards & multi-championship Grand Hunter Champion Junior & Pony Hunters, Kat is proving herself to be America’s most decorated and versatile equestrian. At age 10, she won her first national championship at USEF Pony Finals, repeating the title twice in the following year. By age 13, with multiple mounts she racked up multiple national JR Grand Hunter Championships at the most exclusive competitions; WEF, Devon, Harrisburg, Washington, and Nationals (Lexington). Also at 13, she expanded her repertoire, adding dressage and show jumping to her Wellington, Florida commute for high training & competition since 2014.

Her awards expand across three disciplines with her beloved horses she trains, including 9 USEF Horse of the Year awards, 12 WEF Circuit Champion Awards, and 2 Show Hunter Hall of Fame Awards, Kat was named for the fourth year to the USEF Dressage Emerging Athletes Program, beginning at 14 years of age. Additionally, at 14 Kat was USA Dressage Junior Champion, received her USDF Bronze Medal. She is distinguished with 4 Gold, a Silver, and 4 Bronze FEI Medals. Kat has represented the USA in 2 Nations Cups, earning a Team Bronze by age 15, and USA Dressage YR Reserve Champion 2022, along with USDF Silver Medal.

In 2023, Kat expanded her Atlanta home base and Wellington seasonal residence to add a home in Germany’s Driehof in Tecklenburg. She teams with lead Schockemöhle Executive & Show Jumper Trainer Andreas Kruezer where her five equine Jumpers are based. Kat competed her first Grand Prix Dressage by age 16, Grand Prix Show Jumping by age 15, and actively competes her horses in CSI-3/4 star competitions in Germany, Holland, and Belgium. She hopes to ride for the USA in Nations Cups in both disciplines. By 2024 she represented the USA at Aachen earning 5th for FEI PSG with her DreamGirl.

FEI PSG FREESTYLE DREAMGIRL 5TH

  • At age 12, Kat imported her first dressage horse 11yo DreamGirl in 2020. The two won Kat’s first dressage competition over 72% at First Level by Natalie Lamping in June 2020, by summer earned her USDF Bronze Medal, and won 3rd at USEF National Dressage Championships at FEI Children’s Dressage. By early 2021, the two earned USDF Silver Medal completing FEI PSG over 67% by summer winning FEI JR Champion at USEF National Dressage Championships 2022. At age 14 competed at FEI PSG Open and FEI Intermediate I and II Open. They went on to title the highest mare score trophy and Reserve Champion in the OPEN FEI PSG US Dressage Finals 2023 at age 15, before qualifying for FEI International Championships and Nations’ Cups required to be at least age 16. The two won everything in the US they could win at FEI YR and competitions at Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, FL, and competing internationally making three years the US Youth Euro Team Tour. By 2023 at age 15, Kat teamed with 9 yo Rigoletto, learning Dressage Grand Prix, and set off her road to competing the CDIU25 FEI Grand Prix, and more dressage horses to train and compete all within five years of learning & competing the discipline. She earned USDF Horse of the Year 2024, and in 2025 the highest United States Equestrian Team Foundation JR/YR award by Patrick Guerrand-Hermes, in honor of his son Lionel, killed in a car accident in 1981, his namesake, for exemplifying the USET’s ideals of sportsmanship and horsemanship in an Olympic discipline.

  • By age 13, after 7 years competing each season at Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) since 2014 in Pony and Junior Hunters, Kat competed her first Jumper 12 yo mare Karina R at 1.30m pulling together all her talents from learning jumping courses, track, pace and handy riding, By 2023 making the USEF Euro Dressage Tour, Kat took her Nate Archibald horse to learn from Schockemoehle Horses’ Andreas Kreuzer and kick off her first Grand Prix in Jumpers by age 16.
